About Us

At 610 McLoughlin Blvd, the Oregon City Elks Lodge #1189 has been a fixture of Clackamas County life for generations. Members show up for bingo nights, charitable fundraisers, and, when it counts most, Celebrations of Life that honor neighbors like Lloyd Farthing Jr. with the dignity and warmth his family deserved. That's not something a bar or a banquet hall can replicate.

The lodge draws people in with the fun, but keeps them with the purpose. Eight months in, new members say they've built more genuine friendships here than they expected. The crowd at bingo isn't just playing cards. They're regulars who know each other's names, cheer for each other's wins, and show up when life gets hard.

Oregon City itself sits at the confluence of two rivers and carries the weight of being the first incorporated city west of the Rockies. Lodge #1189 fits that legacy. This is a place where history isn't a talking point. It's Tuesday night, it's the handshake at the door, it's the check written to a local charity because members voted to write it.

What We Offer

Lodge #1189 runs a calendar that gives members reasons to come back every week. Bingo nights are a crowd favorite, equal parts competitive and social, drawing regulars who know the drill and newcomers who get hooked fast. The lodge hall is also available for private events, memorial services, and community gatherings, offering a dignified and well-kept space that families trust for their most meaningful occasions.

Beyond the events, membership opens the door to the BPOE's national network of charitable programs. Members raise funds for local youth scholarships, veterans' support, and community causes chosen by the lodge itself. There's a real satisfaction in knowing that the money raised at Friday night's event is going somewhere specific, to a kid's scholarship or a veteran's need, not a vague corporate fund.

For those exploring membership, the process is straightforward. The lodge welcomes American citizens who believe in God, and the application process is guided by current members who are genuinely glad to answer questions. With a 4.5-star rating across more than 100 reviews, the reputation here is built on real experiences, not marketing.

"We went to the Celebration of Life service for Lloyd Farthing Jr. who passed away in November 2025. The Elks Lodge was nice and the service was very good the pictures showed gave good narrative of his very active life. Karen his current wife and April did a great job putting his Celebration together. I was married to Lloyd for 10 years and we have a beautiful daughter April Kai married to Cody and her 2 daughters. Everyone that talked about Lloyd had sincere love for him. He will be missed by all who knew him in Portland and the surrounding areas, all the way to Texas where most of his family lives. Good bye Lloyd until we meet again on the other side. Debra Farthing"

"I go to the Oregon City Elks Lodge to play bingo on Wednesday evenings. (Disclosure: I am not a member) I know they are a fraternal organization, in which you have to pay yearly membership fees. That membership allows you to go to any Elks Lodge. There are some that have bowling alleys, swimming pools, little restaurants/bars, fun themed event nights/fundraisers, along with many other things! They do a lot of charity work. Different lodges have different amenities and events. Bingo at the Oregon City Lodge, specifically, is open to the general public (21+) and is a lot of fun!"

"I figured I'd try visiting for their bingo night. I found my way downstairs and got settled in. The elks members/volunteers were all very friendly as was expected. I brought a good sense of humor which is mostly understood. Bingo was fun, well run and reasonable prizes for the cost of playing. Returned the next week for round two. 👍🤠"

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
